I combine illustrations from personal experiences and observations of being a sailor for more than thirty years, with stories and anecdotes from business and other disciplines to apply leadership principles to everyday life. The keys to effective leadership involve using the right style or model at the right time, in the right way, with the right people, for the right reason.

As there are rules for sailing, whether racing or cruising, there some are some basic leadership rules that will help you lead any organization or group of people and keep you "off the rocks."
